My Three Day Fast

Sherrice Meditating

This summer, I decided to embark on a three day liquid fast to enhance my spiritual practices. While I’ve completed fasts in the past, the intention was different this time. The experience was so amazing and humbling. Words cannot explain the enlightenment I experienced through the emotional breakdowns and breakthroughs. I’d like to share just a bit of my experience with you.

The week before the fast, I consumed a raw vegan diet and performed fenugreek seed infusion enemas each evening. My goal was to curb cravings for carbs and sugar of any kind. I knew this was necessary to have a successful fasting experience. During this time, I went about my days as normal with a few exceptions. I focused more on my daily journaling practice and enhanced my meditation time by playing music that released healing sounds into all seven of my auric bodies. My goal was to align my bodies so that they could be on one accord.

8 bodies

Here are the beverages I consumed on the fast.

  • Purified water with trace minerals
  • Diatomaceous Earth water – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Gorilla juice – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Fresh vegetable juice – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Herbal infusions with stevia – Prepared enough on the night before the first day of the fast to last for three days
  • Warm vegetable broth – Prepared enough on the first day of the fast to last for three days

What I learned about the consumption aspect of the fast is that preparation is key. Each time I wanted to gobble down some actual food, having these beverages ready to go was the key to my success with this experience. I also learned that food cravings can be satisfied with vitamin and mineral packed liquids and the need to chew can be satisfied by “chewing” the beverages prior to swallowing them. What wasn’t satisfied was my mental addictions and habits related to food. I know that’s something I’ll need to continue to work on.

I didn’t follow any particular schedule for beverage consumption. I simply keep a beverage nearby throughout the day so that I wouldn’t be ravenous and tempted to break my fast early. I also made sure that my husband was able to care for the children and the household most of the time while I was fasting. This helped decrease stress and frustration that can come about when children misbehave or you have to do housework. If he were not available or willing, I would have gladly paid a trusted relative to help me out.

I turned our bedroom into a spiritual oasis with incense, candles, crystals, yoni eggs, yoga mats, yoga DVDs, qi gong DVDs, spiritual reading material, journal, Tibetan singing bowls, frankincense resin burner, sage, feather of Ma’at, spiritual books, mandala coloring books and crayons, healing music and any other spiritual thing I could find. As I was led, I partook in my spiritual practice of choice. No agenda. No schedule. In fact, sometimes, I simply rested in my bed or in a hot bath of pink salt and essential oils.

As I went through the days, thoughts would come to me and I’d write them down. In fact, a full blown plan came to me about how to address a specific issue in my life and I was able to map it out with ease. My mind was so clear, I couldn’t believe it. I could literally hear and see angels, spirit guides, and a few things I didn’t want to see like never before.

Now that I’ve shared the amazing things that were happening, I’d like to share some strange occurrences with my body and mind. Since the liquid fast was entirely sugar free (not just refined sugar, even natural sugars, including fruit) my tongue was coated with candida thrush. I used my tongue scraper to get rid of it and did coconut oil pulls with a little tea tree and clove bud oil in the mix. The level and thickness of the thrush was like cottage cheese. It was the most digusting experience I’ve had in a long time. The enemas were beyond gross. Remember, I started them a week early so once all of the feces was out of my system, black tar and mucus started coming out. I saw parasites, worms, and all kinds of sick things. I’m a fairly clean eater so if all of that was coming out of my system, I could only imagine how this would work from someone who followed the standard American diet.

On day three of the fast, I felt a little snippy and actually had an attitude. I didn’t feel like meditating or doing anything spiritual. I knew this would happen and remembered Karyn Calabrese addressing this in one of her cleansing books, Soak Your Nuts, Cleansing with Karyn, so I took a few drops of wild oregano oil as she suggested. I added some olive leaf extract and within an hour, felt so much better. I immediately jumped right into my spiritual practices. While I didn’t experience the same things as I did on days one and two, I was able to still hear clearly in the spirit realm.

I broke the fast in the morning with some fruit juice. For the rest of the day, I consumed smoothies and salad. I continued to feel rejuvenated and thankful for all I’d learned in such a short period of time. Just imagine if I could have experienced this even longer.

I have completed several three day liquid fasts since this experience and each one brings different challenges and beautiful experiences. My next goal is to complete a ten day liquid fast. I’d like to do this one at a retreat center, with others who are doing the same thing because I believe the energy will be amazing and it will take me to higher heights of my journey.

Have you ever fasted for spiritual reasons? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below.

Peace and blessings.

Overcoming Chronic Constipation

Bristol Stool Chart

As I child, I remember being in awe of my sister’s ability to have a bowel movement several times a day. I was doing good to have a bowel movement two – three times per week and she could do that with ease in one day. Over the years, I experienced a variety of degenerative diseases and issues not understanding that my inability to have proper bowel movement was the cause. Once I received the knowledge, I was able to heal myself. My goal with this blog post is to pass some valuable information along that helped me through the process.

So what causes constipation? Here’s a list of possibilities.

  • Not eating enough for each meal or often enough throughout the day
  • Not going to the bathroom when you feel the urge
  • Intestinal lining is unhealthy and doesn’t produce enough mucous to properly lubricate your stools
  • Insufficient intake of foods with vitamin A (e.g. dark leafy greens, sweet potatoes, squash, marjoram, dill, oregano, dried apricots, cantaloupe, any lettuce except for iceberg, carrots, cod liver oil, or organic grass-fed organ meat)
  • Insufficient intake of spring water
  • Insufficient intake of water-rich foods (e.g. apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, grapefruit, any lettuce except iceberg, watermelon, broccoli, grapes, melons, berries, pears, celery, and papaya)
  • Insufficient intake of fiber-rich foods (e.g. avocados, pears, oranges, bananas, mangos, papayas, artichoke, squash, sweet potatoes, cabbage, dark leafy greens, and non-glutenous grains)
  • Stress and holding in negative emotions
  • Not consuming healthy fats (e.g. extra virgin coconut oil, red palm oil, organic butter from grass-fed cows)
  • Lack of friendly bacteria in digestive tract
  • Intake of prescription or street drugs leaving heavy metals and toxins in the body
  • Excessive consumption of refined and natural sugars (including turbinado, evaporated cane juice, raw honey, sucanut, and raw agave)
  • Excessive intake of dairy (e.g. cheese, cow’s milk, sour cream, cream cheese, etc.)

Your goal is to have two-three bowel movements a day with frequent urination. It’s also key to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of spring water each day.  So, if you weigh 150 lbs, you should be drinking 75 ounces or more of spring water each day. If half your weight in ounces is more than a gallon of spring water, just drink the gallon. For an extra boost of vitamin C and constipation relief, add fresh lemon juice to that water (not the bottled kind, it contains preservatives that aren’t good for you, plus it’s in a plastic bottle from which the liquid leaches toxins). Herbal infusions with bitter herbs can help, too.

Stress has a negative impact on your nervous system which can impact your colon’s ability to release properly. For some, it manifests as excessive release like irritable bowel syndrome or chronic diarrhea. For others, constipation is the way the emotional distress shows up. For this reason, it’s important to practice having conversations about the issues that bother you. If you’re not ready to have those conversations or feel as if they would be a waste of time, journal. Journaling is a powerful exercise as it helps you release emotions in both the natural and spiritual realm. Prayer, deep breathing, and meditation are also powerful ways to release emotions, connect in the spirit realm, and hear from God. Crystals to use during meditation for good digestion and overcoming constipation are citrine, obsidian, or jasper. For finding your voice, lapis lazuli is and excellent choice. Yoga is another stress reliever that has a powerful impact on bowel related issues.

The Bristol Stool Chart pictured above helps us understand what healthy bowel movements should look like so pay close attention to it, as well.

New Moon Wish

new moon

Just as the ocean’s tides are affected by the moon, so are our moon cycles. When our bodies are in tune with the natural rhythms of nature, we bleed with the new moon and ovulate with the full moon. Since most women bled at the same time in indigenous cultures, they often gathered in a common hut or tent to bleed together. This was a powerful time of rest, pampering, creativity, and high magic in many cultures. Women in the moon hut or red tent would partake in activities such as grooming and massaging one another, writing music, reflecting on nature, lucid dreaming, visioning, doll and cake making to honor their goddess of choice, intention setting, and a variety of other rituals during this time.

In this modern day and age, there are lights everywhere. These artificial luminaries are a blessing because they allow us to extend our day beyond the sunlight. At the same time, they are a curse because they through off our body’s natural rhythms. This is the reason women bleed at different times of the month outside of the new moon. So our goal is to get back to the practices of old to make us even better in the new. One such practice is setting intentions. Since the moon is not visible when it’s new, the darkness prevails. Spiritually speaking, this is the best time of the month to plant the seeds of your intention. Throughout the month, you can water them and watch them grow. The seeds are our intentions for our lives and our prayers, affirmations, spiritual practice, and action are the four things that help bring one’s vision into fruition.

So how do you set you intentions during the new moon? Follow the steps below.

  • Get a sheet of paper and a writing utensil.
  • Write your name and date on the paper.
  • Relax and take some deep breaths for one – five minutes.
  • Ask yourself, “What’s my intention for this new moon?”
  • Write down up to ten intentions.
  • Speak each intention out loud and say Ase’ at the end of each intention.
  • Say a closing prayer over your intentions.
  • Keep them in a safe and revisit them accordingly as needed.

Here are some quick rules of thumb.

  • Only write down those intentions that feel right with your spirit.
  • Don’t expect overnight manifestations.
  • Don’t try to do new moon intentions for other people. Focus on YOU.
  • Do not throw the intensions away or burn them until they manifest.

Yoni Magic Meditation

Yoni Magic Meditation Pic

This blog post is part of the Yoni Magic virtual event. Back then, I was going by the name Safiyah Naemah and my business was called Safiyah Heals.

Meditation has many benefits from reducing stress to clearing the mind. Another benefit is how the act of meditation aids in creative manifesting. Since meditation helps you connect with the divine within you, you’ll learn to use your thoughts and energy to create what you want.

In this meditation, we will use carnelian stones or a yoni egg. Carnelian is an orange color stone that aligns with your sacral chakra. It is one of the oldest gemstones, treasured by the ancient Egyptians. The clasp of Isis was carved from this gemstone. This stone promotes joy, laughter, and an open heart. All the things necessary for love of others, love of self, and love of nature. The stone has been used for mental and physical balance, to spur ambition, strengthen self-confidence, and help one achieve their goals. It’s even been used in the treatment of infertility. When one cannot make a baby, infertility is manifested on a physical level. If one cannot manifest their dreams, then infertility is on a spiritual level.

The Yoni Magic Meditation is designed to positively impact spiritual infertility and increase your capacity to love. I encourage you to do this meditation each time you desire to create something new or if you feel you’re lacking in creative energy. Over time, you will see amazing changes as long as you have an open mind and open heart.

Here’s how the Yoni Magic Meditation works.

1.Prepare your meditation space by eliminating distractions and making the space inviting

– If you use candles, use orange candles

– If you use essential oils, use orange, lemongrass, or neroli

– If you use incense, use amber, as it stimulates the sacral chakra – sexuality and procreation

2.Place one carnelian stone in each hand and or insert your carnelian yoni egg (if you don’t have the stones or an egg, bring something orange into your meditation time)
3.Sit upright in easy pose. You can use cushions, pillows, or whatever you like.
4.Verbally express love to the creator and invite creative loving energy of love to overtake you.
5.Close your eyes and find your center.
6.Visualize what you want to create or what you need to create it.
7.Breathe deep in and out for counts of 13 for 13 minutes.
8.Say the Yoni Magic Affirmation.

I believe in love. I breathe love. I promote love. I am love.

I design love. I invoke love. I salute love. I am love.

I breed love. I honor love. I value love. I am love.

I speak love. I exude love. I share love. I am love.

I embrace love. I accept love. I cherish love. I am love.

9.Close the meditation with a prayer to thank the creator.

Ovarian Cysts

What are ovarian cysts?

Ovarian cysts are tumors or fluid or tissue filled sacs that develop on the surface of one or both ovaries. They are typically the size of a walnut or almond. Cysts are either functional or pathological in nature, with the pathological cysts being more of a detriment to overall health. Here are a few descriptions and some photos.

  • Follicular – Most common type of functional cyst. The ovarian follicle produces a fluid to protect a growing egg. When the egg is released, the follicle should burst, releasing the fluid, then shrink back to it’s normal size. If the follicle doesn’t release the egg or doesn’t release the fluid and shrink after releasing the egg, it can becoming a follicular ovarian cyst. Typically, only one of these cyst appears at any one time and thanks to mother nature, goes away within a few weeks without interference. The following picture comes from Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research.

  • Luteal  – Least common type of functional cyst. After an egg has been released it leaves tissue behind called the corpus luteum. If this tissue fills with blood, a luteal cyst develops. Thanks to mother nature, this cyst typically goes away within a few months. There is a danger in the egg rupturing before then which could cause sudden pain and internal bleeding. The following picture comes from

  • Dermoid cysts – Most common type of pathological cyst for women under 30 years of age and also know as cystic teratomas, which means monster tumor (usually benign). This type of cyst is formed from the cells that make eggs. They typically contain hair, skin, bone, other tissues, and in some cases, even teeth. Doctors suggest that these cysts need to be removed surgically. The following picture came from

  • Cystadenomas – Most common type of pathological cyst for women 40 years of age and older. these ovarian cysts develop from cells that cover the outer part of the ovary. Some are filled with a thick, mucous substance, while others contain a watery liquid. Rather than growing inside the ovary itself, cystadenomas are usually attached to an ovary by a stalk. Since they exist outside the ovary, they have the potential to grow to an extremely large size. These cysts are typically benign and doctors recommend that they are removed surgically. The following picture came from

The information about the various types of cysts came from a myriad of sources, including and

Symptoms Depending upon the type, most women who suffer from ovarian cysts don’t display any symptoms, however, if the cysts grows larger, she might experience:

  • lower abdominal and pelvic pain or feeling or excessive pressure
  • vaginal or pelvic pain during or after intercourse
  • pelvic pain during menstrual cycle felt in the lower back
  • pain or pressure with urination (bladder) or bowel movements (rectum)
  • problems fully emptying the bladder
  • bloating, swelling, or heaviness of abdomen
  • irregular menstrual cycle
  • naseau or vomiting
  • vaginal blood spotting
  • infertility
  • breast tenderness
  • changes in the way breasts grow
  • changes in the way hair grows, especially if increased facial hair similar to a male pattern
  • fever
  • weak, dizziness, or fainting
  • high or low blood pressure unrelated to medication or other medical conditions
  • unexplained weight loss
  • excessive thirst or urination
  • noticeable pelvic or abdominal mass

It’s important not to self-diagnosis an ovarian cysts as the symptoms are similar to those experienced with endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etopic pregnancy, normal pregnancy, or ovarian cancer. If the ovarian cysts ruptures, the symptoms can mirror those related to appendicitis or diverticulitus.

  • Eliminate sugar, especially refined sugar, from your diet.
  • Limit the consumption of grains and excess protein, which turns into sugar.
  • Have at least one baby before the age of 30 and breastfeed your baby.
  • Don’t smoke and avoid second hand smoke.
  • If experiencing breast cancer, know that Tamoxifen (Soltamox) therapy blocks the action of estrogen which can contribute to ovarian cysts.
  • Avoid infertility treatment with gonadotropin medications.
  • Get hypothyroidism (thyroid gland doesn’t make enough of the thyroid hormone) in check.
  • Ensure that your body is able to produce the hormone we know as vitamin D3 – sunlight and sleep during the hours of 10pm-4am are the best sources.

The information about the symptoms and prevention came from a variety of sources, including my experience as a Master Herbalist and Health Coach,, and

While there is no miracle herb or process to dissolve cysts, there are some healing modalities that have worked for others in the past. This work takes some focus and about three-six months to accomplish. Start with clean eating (no sugar, no processed food, no bread, no beef, no pork, and make sure your other meat and fish are from clean sources), meditation, and herbal infusions of chapparal and vitex.

Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are like muscles in the uterus that don’t know how to stop growing. I call them waste receptacles because they are filled with toxic mucus to protect our wombs from the trash we’ve accumulated over time. They are caused by one or more of the following issues.

  • Emotional wounds from abortions, miscarriages, sexual trauma, and/or molestation that breed negative energy
  • High estrogen and progesterone production from taking birth control pills and consuming excessive amounts of soy
  • Consuming acidic foods that contain dairy, refined sugar, refined and enriched flour, and/or caffeine, especially processed or fried, all which create mucus in the body
  • Damage from sexually transmitted diseases and vaginal infections
  • Exchange of bodily fluids with sexual partners that create soul ties and open you up to the other person’s issues and history
  • Karmic debt from past lives, for those who believe in reincarnation
  • Generational curses in the family bloodline
  • Toxins from body care products that contain chlorine bleach, parabens, sulfates, and other harmful chemicals
  • Hormonal issues with menopausal women taking synthetic hormones to increase estrogen levels
  • Hormonal issues with women who are undergoing invitro fertilization

These situations produce toxic mucus that gets trapped in the womb, which can contribute to the growth of fibroids, both inside or outside of the uterus. They develop in the uterus because it is our womb, the center of life and creativity. Here, we birth new lives and ideas. Some say that fibroids are hereditary and that they run in families, passed down from generation to generation. Since we tend to inherit diseases at birth and live the same lifestyle as our family members, the heredity theory is somewhat true. If we have the same eating habits, lifestyle, and/or thinking patterns as our living relatives and/or ancestors, then we will most likely have the same health issues.

  • None – they may be small and not causing symptoms – best time to smash them
  • Heavy bleeding during or outside of menstural cycle
  • Headaches
  • Bloating – can make you look up to six months pregnant
  • Extreme cramping – caused by strong uterine spasms
  • Lower back pain
  • Infertility
  • Miscarriages
  • Dull ache to extreme burning sensation in the womb area
  • Constipation
  • Frequent urination
  • Frequent urinary tract infections
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Low libido
  • Painful intercourse

As far as the treatment, there is no miracle herb or essential oil that prevents or shrinks fibriods. The goal is a holistic solution that promotes excellent womb health. That solution involves cleansing and nourishing both one’s external and internal environments as opposed to trying to heal the condition. The body operates as a whole, not in pieces or parts. Herbs like chapparal, comfrey, vitex, nettles, shepherd’s purse, and cesaree have been known to help with this condition. I also strongly suggest the elimination of the acidic foods mentioned above during the healing process. Meditation, journaling, and yoga have been known to add great value during this time, as well. Specifically, to help deal with the spiritual reasons for fibroids mentioned above. For some, the fibroid smash takes 3 months. For others it takes longer. The lifestyle change should be long term so that the fibroids don’t grow back.

Here are a few pictures of fibroids to help you know what they might look like inside your body. images-6dhs_fibroid_buster_cleanse images-5images-3images-4

If you’re suffering from uterine fibroids, know you’re not alone and there is help. If you have questions, thoughts, or stories to share, I’d love to hear from you. Love and light.
