I’m Coming Out of Mama’s Closet!

Mother Earth Tree

When I was a part of organized religion, the God presence was shown to me through the image of a man. This viewpoint always seemed one sided but back then, I accepted what books and elders said and did what I was told. Despite my programming, I couldn’t deny these amazing experiences I was having with a divine energetic presence who seemed to be whatever I needed at the time. Sometimes the energy was maternal, sometimes it was paternal, other times it was free of gender and simply meet the emotional need I craved. Like most of us who experience things outside of the norm, I was afraid to go against my ministerial training and talk about it publicly. Especially since what was beginning to happen in my life wasn’t written in any book or taught in organized religions. When I did get the courage to share it with others, they would either say that was Jesus coming to me in the way I could receive him or that it was a demon. I wasn’t satisfied with either of those responses. Especially since I knew about Christ Consciousness and how that energy evolved into the person of Christ through historical events.

Several years later, I joined a radical church where I started learning more about the spirit realm. I felt more comfortable here because at least these folks were seeing things and not focused on reading a holy book all of the time. I’d dissected this book inside out in my own studies and minister’s training and frankly, I found so many contradictions that I couldn’t take it anymore. At least here, the teaching was prophetic and focused on spiritual gifts. The pastors often preached straight from the spiritual realm and the messages were always so amazing. Nothing contrived from a book. They took what they read in the book and went to the next level of revelation. Logos became rhema and it was a beautiful sight to see. Here, it was acceptable to share that I saw angelic presences or the throne room I thought belonged to God. Unfortunately, the moment I went outside of that box, they were ready to start anointing me with oil and casting out the demons that were causing me to have these experiences. Then one day, my dreams started taking me to another level beyond our the church’s teachings. I began to literally leave my body and travel to places in my dreams. I now know this is astral travel. At first, it started out with flying in the sky when dreaming, then I figured out I could direct my travels and started projecting to wherever I wanted to go. I remember being able to navigate without GPS or a map on a trip I took to the Bay Area in California in my real life because I was so familiar with the land from my astral travels.

One day, I decided not to go to work, and to spend time meditating, journaling, and practicing yoga all day. I’d been doing this in secret for years because it wasn’t acceptable in the church setting. They believed that if you meditated, you would go into an altered state of mind that allows demons to enter. They also believed that yoga asanas (positions) were honoring other deities. While there is some truth to their concerns, I didn’t care anymore because what was happening to me was phenomenal and I wanted to go further. During this day full of meditation, journaling, and yoga, I felt a sense of peace I’d never felt before and decided I would continue this practice. When I made this decision, I knew nothing would be the same. I could no longer call myself a minister or an elder and continue to live my life in this realm outside of the Good Book. So, I stepped down from every position in the church. No longer Minister Sherrice. No longer Elder Sherrice. No longer a prophetic praise dancer. No longer a Bible Study Cell Group Leader. No longer a Women’s Ministry Leader. All the titles, responsibilities, and church experiences went out the window. A once dear friend of mine told me we were now on opposing teams and he’d pray for me. I’m still sickened by the audacity of that comment.

Eventually, we left the church altogether. I decided to change my name and call myself Safiyah Naemah so that I could not be recognized by my church members when I started writing and teaching about my experiences. That didn’t last too long because Sherrice is who I am and I wasn’t willing to give up my name to hide from my family, my old friends, the prayer warriors and church gossipers. So I went back to being Sherrice and just didn’t talk about my spiritual practices with anyone who belonged to a church.

As the years went on, I went deeper into my practices and had a strong focus on womb healing. I learned how to communicate with MY ancestors, THE ancestors, and the ascended masters. I was fortunate enough to visit the places where I’ve lived in past lives in both the spiritual and natural realms. These experiences helped me understand my fears, desires, and purpose. I played with tarot cards, oracle cards, crystals, and all kinds of things that light workers do. While I enjoyed these experiences, I didn’t want to be a part of the New Age Movement because everything they were promoting was not new. It came from our indigenous ancestors. I had a strong focus on metaphysical and spiritual practices and my work with herbs even went to the next level. Then I started learning about duality and what people might call dark magic and learned to create my own rituals and practices. That’s when I started seeing real results and changes in my life that went beyond things you can see in the physical realm.

While working on a client’s health history, I figured out we were related. We started talking about our families and sure enough, we have cousins in common. She shared her spiritual experiences with me and made me feel much better about my own. One day, out of the blue, she sent me an inbox message on Facebook and encouraged me to start sharing my experiences with the world. That same month, I heard from so many people who saw posts of my experiences on social media but were afraid to connect with me because while they were having similar experiences, they weren’t ready to come out to their families and friends just yet.

Then something miraculous occurred in my life. I met Mama. Not my birth Mama, but the birth mama of all that was, all that is, and all that will be. What I understood is that Mama was Mama to me because she was reflecting my image. She might be Daddy to someone else but to me, she’s Mama. She wasn’t any particular gender, race or ethnicity either but she knew everything about them all. That let me know she was all things to all people and would become whatever they needed to connect in the spiritual realm. This made it easy for me not to argue with others about what I believed. I also won’t continue to hide behind the shadows, either.

When I met Mama, I couldn’t see her, of course, but I could feel her maternal, loving presence. For the first time ever, I felt a level of love and compassion I couldn’t explain. She held me tenderly while I cried. I know it’s strange that an energy or a presence can hold you. While it was happening, I was in awe, not sure how it was happening, and not trying to figure out. Yes, I was experiencing contrasting emotions all at the same time. I started sharing my perspective of love with anyone who would listen. I didn’t care who they were or what they believed, I knew we all wanted to be loved.

Over time, I started developing a relationship with Mama. It was the relationship I’d tried to develop with Jesus when I was in church yet could never quite get there. As Mama held me, I felt as if she were a tree. Then I realized I was a tree because she was a tree and I was her expressed image. Saying all that to say, we were the same same tree. I was a part of her tree yet I was my own tree. It was such a beautiful experience. I felt the pain of all my lives I poured out buckets of tears. As I cried, she didn’t wipe away my tears, she cried with me. Then, she showed me how our tears were watering our roots. She literally enveloped me in her presence and loved me even more. When the love was deeper than the initial love I experienced with her, I was shocked! This experience brought to life what I’ve learned for years about love. I always knew that love can go deeper and deeper and that love cannot be contained. I also knew that love was God. So this is the crazy part. Mama is what we call God. Some might say Mama is Goddess. I say Mama is the most high. She told me she didn’t need a title or a gender. She was whatever I needed at that moment. Call her whatever you want because language only confounds the true essence of who she really is. She told me she gave me every single thing I needed to fulfill my purpose on earth and that makes me a Goddess, too. Mama wanted me to know that all of the answers were within, I just needed to not be afraid to go there.

We have a hard time fathoming the idea that we are divine because it seems like we’re giving ourselves a super power that we don’t deserve because we have been taught that we’re unworthy. While I do believe there is only one source, I believe that source empowered all her creations with divinity. It’s not what we’ve been taught in our churches, temples, and synagogues. It’s much more esoteric than that. I believe these teachings can help us yet at some point, you have to go on your own to experience it for yourself. Our indigenous cultures understood this and that’s why they had coming of age ceremonies with sacred plants and fungi to help their young people access the God within. They prepared their children for these experiences from the time they were born. We prepare our children to be productive citizens not esoteric spiritual beings and that’s the real reason we’re in such a programmed state of mind today. There are people who are paid and revered to keep us programmed and they don’t even realize it because they too are programmed.

Now that I’ve met Mama and experienced love and compassion like never before, I can’t keep holding it inside just to please those folks who want me to be something I’m not. I was all of those things because I didn’t know the most high for myself so I followed their pattern. It served me well at the time and I thank everyone who contributed to my spiritual growth. As of today, I’m cutting the cord and publicly pursuing my own path. I’ve been doing it, just hiding in the shadows. Now, thanks to Mama, I’m coming out!

My Three Day Fast

Sherrice Meditating

This summer, I decided to embark on a three day liquid fast to enhance my spiritual practices. While I’ve completed fasts in the past, the intention was different this time. The experience was so amazing and humbling. Words cannot explain the enlightenment I experienced through the emotional breakdowns and breakthroughs. I’d like to share just a bit of my experience with you.

The week before the fast, I consumed a raw vegan diet and performed fenugreek seed infusion enemas each evening. My goal was to curb cravings for carbs and sugar of any kind. I knew this was necessary to have a successful fasting experience. During this time, I went about my days as normal with a few exceptions. I focused more on my daily journaling practice and enhanced my meditation time by playing music that released healing sounds into all seven of my auric bodies. My goal was to align my bodies so that they could be on one accord.

8 bodies

Here are the beverages I consumed on the fast.

  • Purified water with trace minerals
  • Diatomaceous Earth water – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Gorilla juice – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Fresh vegetable juice – Prepared each morning of the fast
  • Herbal infusions with stevia – Prepared enough on the night before the first day of the fast to last for three days
  • Warm vegetable broth – Prepared enough on the first day of the fast to last for three days

What I learned about the consumption aspect of the fast is that preparation is key. Each time I wanted to gobble down some actual food, having these beverages ready to go was the key to my success with this experience. I also learned that food cravings can be satisfied with vitamin and mineral packed liquids and the need to chew can be satisfied by “chewing” the beverages prior to swallowing them. What wasn’t satisfied was my mental addictions and habits related to food. I know that’s something I’ll need to continue to work on.

I didn’t follow any particular schedule for beverage consumption. I simply keep a beverage nearby throughout the day so that I wouldn’t be ravenous and tempted to break my fast early. I also made sure that my husband was able to care for the children and the household most of the time while I was fasting. This helped decrease stress and frustration that can come about when children misbehave or you have to do housework. If he were not available or willing, I would have gladly paid a trusted relative to help me out.

I turned our bedroom into a spiritual oasis with incense, candles, crystals, yoni eggs, yoga mats, yoga DVDs, qi gong DVDs, spiritual reading material, journal, Tibetan singing bowls, frankincense resin burner, sage, feather of Ma’at, spiritual books, mandala coloring books and crayons, healing music and any other spiritual thing I could find. As I was led, I partook in my spiritual practice of choice. No agenda. No schedule. In fact, sometimes, I simply rested in my bed or in a hot bath of pink salt and essential oils.

As I went through the days, thoughts would come to me and I’d write them down. In fact, a full blown plan came to me about how to address a specific issue in my life and I was able to map it out with ease. My mind was so clear, I couldn’t believe it. I could literally hear and see angels, spirit guides, and a few things I didn’t want to see like never before.

Now that I’ve shared the amazing things that were happening, I’d like to share some strange occurrences with my body and mind. Since the liquid fast was entirely sugar free (not just refined sugar, even natural sugars, including fruit) my tongue was coated with candida thrush. I used my tongue scraper to get rid of it and did coconut oil pulls with a little tea tree and clove bud oil in the mix. The level and thickness of the thrush was like cottage cheese. It was the most digusting experience I’ve had in a long time. The enemas were beyond gross. Remember, I started them a week early so once all of the feces was out of my system, black tar and mucus started coming out. I saw parasites, worms, and all kinds of sick things. I’m a fairly clean eater so if all of that was coming out of my system, I could only imagine how this would work from someone who followed the standard American diet.

On day three of the fast, I felt a little snippy and actually had an attitude. I didn’t feel like meditating or doing anything spiritual. I knew this would happen and remembered Karyn Calabrese addressing this in one of her cleansing books, Soak Your Nuts, Cleansing with Karyn, so I took a few drops of wild oregano oil as she suggested. I added some olive leaf extract and within an hour, felt so much better. I immediately jumped right into my spiritual practices. While I didn’t experience the same things as I did on days one and two, I was able to still hear clearly in the spirit realm.

I broke the fast in the morning with some fruit juice. For the rest of the day, I consumed smoothies and salad. I continued to feel rejuvenated and thankful for all I’d learned in such a short period of time. Just imagine if I could have experienced this even longer.

I have completed several three day liquid fasts since this experience and each one brings different challenges and beautiful experiences. My next goal is to complete a ten day liquid fast. I’d like to do this one at a retreat center, with others who are doing the same thing because I believe the energy will be amazing and it will take me to higher heights of my journey.

Have you ever fasted for spiritual reasons? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below.

Let’s Move Some Chi!

Peace and blessings.

A few months ago, I was watching Avatar: The Last Airbender and wondered what it would take to master each element. I did some research and discovered that fire bending requires mastery of Northern Shaolin, earthbending requires mastery of Hung Gar, air bending requires mastery of Ba Gau Zhang, and water bending requires mastery of Tai Chi. I wasn’t ready to go quite as far as taking a class outside of my home to learn these techniques so I decided to try Qi Gong since the practice extends beyond martial arts and into the spiritual realm. Since it’s about moving meditations that align the body, breath, and mind for optimal health, it doesn’t require as much space as the other forms of martial arts. Plus, I had three DVDs someone gifted to me and access to You Tube videos.

Thus far, my experience has been amazing. My energy levels are high and I feel more spiritually connected. I remember my first serious practice. I could feel the weight of the energy I was moving. Believe it or not, as a Reiki practitioner, I moved a great deal of energy however, I’ve never felt energy moving on this level. After an hour of moving chi, I felt the same exact “warm” kundalini rising feeling it took me months to obtain through mantras, mudras, and sitting meditations in the past. I knew I had discovered one of the world’s best kept secrets. I also noticed that I could hold a focus much longer and as a result, I’m able to solve issues in my personal life without nearly as much frustration. One additional change worth mentioning is the improvement in my health. I look great, feel great, and exude greatness.

If you’ve never tried Qi Gong, I encourage you to give this practice a try. I’ll admit, its sort of boring at first, especially if you’re used to high impact aerobics or heavy weight lifting, as different hormones are released. Just know that Qi Gong is so much more than exercise so stick with it for a while and you’ll reap the benefits. I’d love to hear about your experience so feel free to share in the comments field below.

Healing Aspects of Rain

As long as I can remember, I’ve loved the sound of rain. Something about the pitter patter of heavenly drops against my window pane makes me exhale and smile. When I smell rain in the air on a Saturday morning, I get all warm and fuzzy inside because I know I get to sleep with the beautiful sounds of God. Earlier this summer, the twins and I played outside in the rain and it was an amazing cleansing experience. It reminded me of childhood days playing in the rain with my cousins making “greens and mud pies.”

Connecting with nature spirits is an instrumental path to healing for those who are earth signs in the astrological realm. Every human being came from the earth yet, we earth signs have a stronger connection than most. Whether it’s running barefoot in the grass, feeling the ocean waves crash against our feet, or dancing in the rain, nature calls us to commune there with God. That’s the real church. For those who crave these experiences like me, its imperative to honor the beckoning of your heart. The healing you’ve been looking for may be in this experience.

Indigenous people were so connected with nature, they could hear the whispers of God in the wind. They could place their ear against a tree and be filled with the spirit of God. While those times seem to have passed, I believe the technological lives we live require us to reach back to the teachings of old and bring them into the modern day. As a health coach, I’ve seen people be healed simply by basking in the sunlight, taking in those healing rays to generate vitamin D and body electric. I’ve also seen folks be healed simply by drinking from a fresh water spring. Rain has a similar healing effect. The sound of the rain evokes a calming feeling that serves as a catalyst for us to open our hearts. Many ailments that manifest in the physical realm are often a result of pent up frustrations from a variety of life’s disappointments and hurts. Rain serves as our reminder that we have an overflow of abundance in our lives that will manifest according to our specific needs and desires.

The next time it rains and the temperature’s just right, put on some old clothes, go outside, and feel the rain on your skin. Baptize yourself in the water and let it wash your cares away. There’s healing in the rain, so open up your heart and receive your blessing.

Peace and love.

Express Your Inner Child Creativity

Photo on 2-15-14 at 4.35 PM

I remember when I graduated from college, my mother made sure I had a job. In fact, I believe she even set up the interview. After my first grueling day of learning how to help Medicare providers with their claim inquiries, I went home and stretched out on the couch. The phone rang and I heard one of my favorite voices in the world. “Chee-Peach!” My grandfather’s nickname for me. In fact, he had a nickname for everyone. “How was your first day?” I went through the motions and told him it was great and all that. Deep down inside, all I could think is this could not be what life was all about. There’s no way I was going to spend the rest of my days going to this place and giving them all my energy. Back then, I had no desire to be an entrepreneur so instead, I figured out ways to give them the minimum while making them think they were getting the maximum and saving my real energy for my own pleasure.

Over the years, that free-spirit was beaten out of me through the need to pay bills, life’s struggles, extreme religious experiences, bad relationships, and many other things. I became that exact same person I didn’t want to be and as a result, all the childhood issues I never dealt with came back to haunt me in my miserable life. I fell in and out of states of functional depression that I hid by going to church five days per week. I was a minister and a teacher, plus, I helped run our non-profit organization. I also made sure to surround myself with people who needed help so I could focus on their needs instead of my own misery. As you can imagine, I grew further away from the things I likes to do under the guise that I was giving it all up for Jesus. I even convinced myself that it was the right thing to do.

Then one day, my house of cards came falling down. I was at a fork in the road where I was either going to have to hide even more of who I really was to go further in the ministry or choose to be the real me. As you all can see, I choose me and haven’t regretted it once. If you’ve followed my spiritual healing journey, you know I’ve come a long way, baby. Now, I’m finally ready to deal with those inner child issues. Prayer, meditation, and sonic healing have been amazing. Now, I’ve decided to start painting. I’ll be the first to tell you that I have no artistic talent whatsoever, yet, I’m creative and I have the supplies.

Peace and blessings.

Full Moon Spiritual Practices

moon cycle

Give thanks.

Ever since childhood, I get excited whenever there is a full-moon. Living in the midwest, it’s often cloudy so I get even more excited when the night sky is clear enough for me to gaze upon it’s beauty. My excitement rises to yet another level when it’s warm enough to bask in all the creator’s glory of the creation. I’d like to take a few moments to share some things with you about the full moon and how the energy is useful to you.

The full moon period is five days which consist of two days prior to the full moon, the day of, and two days after the full moon. The energy around my spiritual rituals of prayer, meditation, and manifesting are heightened during this time, just as it does for many around the world. The gravitational pull of the moon is not just to cause distress upon the earth and seas. It’s an energy wave that we have God’s permission to ride here on earth. It’s the perfect time for focus on world service and/or personal growth.

I bet you’re wondering how you can take advantage of the opportunity to tap into the moon’s energetic frequency. Here are a few tips to help take your spiritual practice to the next level during the full moon period.

  • During the two days prior to the full moon, pray and meditate on letting go of situations, people, and things holding you back from your life calling.
  • On the day of the full moon, pray and meditate with a focus on goodwill for the earth and it’s inhabitants. It’s also a good time to put it out into the universe what you desire to manifest. The manifestation should focus on what you need to bring your life calling to fruition, continue flowing in it, or to take it to the next level. For maximum power, meditate at the exact same time the moon becomes full and call on the moon’s energy of the most high.
  • On the two days after the full moon, pray and meditate with a focus on distributing the full moon energy to all those places needs for goodwill on earth and your manifestation.

What should you expect to happen once you’ve completed these meditations? I strongly suggest you go into this practice with the mindset that what you’re seeking already exists, it’s just in waiting for you. At the same time, be open to receiving and seeing that manifestation come to fruition as the creator sees fit. God’s ways are not our ways because many of us are disconnected from the source. As we realign, we’ll begin to see things differently and the blessings will flow more abundantly.

While it’s good to follow the advice of those of us who are seasoned in spiritual work, the goal is to get you to a place where you hear from God on your own. As you grow stronger in your spiritual practices, you’ll be led to create your own rituals.

Now, go forth and create with the abundance of the full moon energy. You never know what might happen when you set yourself free to operate in this particular realm of the spirit.

Love and light.

Yoni Magic Meditation

Yoni Magic Meditation Pic

This blog post is part of the Yoni Magic virtual event. Back then, I was going by the name Safiyah Naemah and my business was called Safiyah Heals.

Meditation has many benefits from reducing stress to clearing the mind. Another benefit is how the act of meditation aids in creative manifesting. Since meditation helps you connect with the divine within you, you’ll learn to use your thoughts and energy to create what you want.

In this meditation, we will use carnelian stones or a yoni egg. Carnelian is an orange color stone that aligns with your sacral chakra. It is one of the oldest gemstones, treasured by the ancient Egyptians. The clasp of Isis was carved from this gemstone. This stone promotes joy, laughter, and an open heart. All the things necessary for love of others, love of self, and love of nature. The stone has been used for mental and physical balance, to spur ambition, strengthen self-confidence, and help one achieve their goals. It’s even been used in the treatment of infertility. When one cannot make a baby, infertility is manifested on a physical level. If one cannot manifest their dreams, then infertility is on a spiritual level.

The Yoni Magic Meditation is designed to positively impact spiritual infertility and increase your capacity to love. I encourage you to do this meditation each time you desire to create something new or if you feel you’re lacking in creative energy. Over time, you will see amazing changes as long as you have an open mind and open heart.

Here’s how the Yoni Magic Meditation works.

1.Prepare your meditation space by eliminating distractions and making the space inviting

– If you use candles, use orange candles

– If you use essential oils, use orange, lemongrass, or neroli

– If you use incense, use amber, as it stimulates the sacral chakra – sexuality and procreation

2.Place one carnelian stone in each hand and or insert your carnelian yoni egg (if you don’t have the stones or an egg, bring something orange into your meditation time)
3.Sit upright in easy pose. You can use cushions, pillows, or whatever you like.
4.Verbally express love to the creator and invite creative loving energy of love to overtake you.
5.Close your eyes and find your center.
6.Visualize what you want to create or what you need to create it.
7.Breathe deep in and out for counts of 13 for 13 minutes.
8.Say the Yoni Magic Affirmation.

I believe in love. I breathe love. I promote love. I am love.

I design love. I invoke love. I salute love. I am love.

I breed love. I honor love. I value love. I am love.

I speak love. I exude love. I share love. I am love.

I embrace love. I accept love. I cherish love. I am love.

9.Close the meditation with a prayer to thank the creator.

Lies Women Tell Their Daughters

Give thanks.

Many of us grew up hearing all kinds of information about what we should and shouldn’t do on our moon cycles. Just like any transference of knowledge, we received some solid advice AND some wrong information. I asked my Facebook friends to post what they were told as a child when they were learning to take care of themselves during their moon cycle. Here’s a compilation of the information they shared.

  1. Don’t tell anyone you’re on your cycle. (Not sure what the logic was behind this one)
  2. Don’t take a bath because menstrual blood is unclean and you don’t want to soak in it.
  3. Don’t take a bath or the blood won’t come out and it will pollute your body.
  4. Don’t eat pineapples, citrus, or tomatoes because they’re all too acidic during this time of the month.
  5. Don’t walk barefoot or wash your hair because you’ll get a cold in your womb.
  6. Don’t use a tampon if you’re a virgin because you’ll loose your virginity.
  7. Don’t cook anything because you will contaminate the food.
  8. Don’t go swimming, especially in the ocean.
  9. Don’t hold a baby. (I never did get a clear explanation for this one)
  10. Don’t ever have sex during that time of the month.

My favorite item on the list is #7, don’t cook anything because you’ll contaminate the food. We all know the story of some man being “whipped” by a woman who put her menstural blood in the spaghetti, right? Of course, I researched the origin and found out that in ancient times, menstural blood was revered and folks perceived it possessed a magical quality. For this reason, women would collect the blood and feed their crops with it. In fact, some would even put it in their food and this was actually a welcomed experience. It wasn’t until the witch trails and like events that demonized anything woman that these practices became taboo. Isn’t it interesting how time and the presiding rule of the culture changes everything.

On another note, I’d love to hear what you were told or what you think about this list so feel free to add a comment. I’d also love to hear if you followed these things and if so, how that worked out for you. I look forward to hearing your funny stories and your truths.

Love and light.
